took the truck tonight - good and bad

Well tonight was good and bad.  Only ran the 150 shot on the first run.
60'-1.8988
330'-5.1190
594'-7.2870
1/8et-7.7681
1/8mph-93.53
1000'-10.0019
1/4et-11.9270
1/4mph-120.02mph

Now for the bad-Launched on motor around 3-3500rpm and didnt go anywhere :icon9:

The starter guy was jumping around for a bit after that.  I saw him dodging case pieces and probably trying to figure out what was leaking.  Driveshaft ended up ripping off a compressor line to the airtanks so it dumped all 9 gallons of air almost instantly.  I didnt even know that got ripped off till I looked under the truck.  It probably took them about a half hour or so to clean up all that gear oil :omg:

hp calculator ended up with
654.2 rwhp (probably close)
817.8 flywheel hp(Doubt thats even close)

oh well, At least it went 11's on the first run off the trailer:burnout: I guess its not bad considering this is the first catastrophic failure I've ever had since I started running this truck in 2002.  Never broken anything more than pushing a soft plug out of the block.  It still ran and moved after that, so I consider that less breakage and less work to fix, because I HATE messing with that rear end:mad:

Replacement will be iron, just nodular iron this time - $$$.  I'm just hoping my detroit trutrac is okay.  Havent even gotten the truck off the hauler yet,  maybe tomorrow.  Mainly I've been trying to find out what kind of money is going to need to be spent to get it back together quick.  The local car forum I'm on has a Dirty dozen list(top 12 fastest street cars) and I've been bumped off twice now(once in the tbird, and once in the truck) and now Ive been dq'd because of this, and I wouldve been in 8th place again with that pass.  leader is a guy Ive never met and ran 9.58 @ 141.07 w/1.39 60ft - 79' Ford Fairmont

Yep seen the 9"s bust like this before behind a big block... That appeared to be a light duty case with only one vertical and one horiz support rib, ones with the extra ribs are harder to bust... The one in my '69 Cobra Jet has four ribs and the big "N"(nodular) cast into it...

I thought it had quite a bit more bracing on it than it looks in the pics.  I'm pulling it out tonight but I pulled the axles and driveshaft at lunch, and one of the axles(31spline) was twisted almost an 1/8 turn, and the driveshaft needs replaced due to 2 large dents
