I am looking for someone to either tell me how or to make a video I made into a gif. Or tell me how I can use it as my avatar??? Thanks in advance.

Programs like:

Microsoft GIF animator
GIMP
Mplayer

These are all free. Lots of internet tutorials as well

You can use Macromedia Flash as well

Using GIMP:

Download and install the Gimp files for your operating system. Install the main program first and then the Animation Package second.
Go to Xtns > Split Video Into Frames > Extract Videorange.
On the next screen, browse for the video file that you saved and select the button that says Video Range.
Select the frames that you want in the gif. Then check the Loop and Play Selection Only boxes. You can test this with the Start Playback Button. When you are satisfied with the frames, select the Ok button. The program will then take a couple of seconds extracting the audio and video.
Go to Video > Frames to Image and set the From Frames and To Frames to the numbers you selected earlier. Go to Video > Frames Scale. This will set the size. Make it as small as possible because the animated gif file can be really large.
Go to File > Save As and make sure to select .gif as the file extension.
The next screen will ask you to export. Change the first option to animation and leave the other option on indexed rather than changing to grayscale . Then Save.

Take note: GIMP does not recognize MPEG files. You'll have to convert them to .avi or .flv first. You can do so with a conversion program or upload to youtube and you can download it again as a .flv.

Also: I don't use every frame. I use every 3rd frame. It actually makes for less space and quicker motion. Using every frame puts the gif into slo-mo.

For avatars to work, they MUST conform to the size limitations set forth. If it's too big, the vBulletin software will resize it and it won't play.

I made the one I'm currently using from the film Mad Max.

I couldn't get it to recognize it from photobucket.....I uploaded to youtube and re-downloaded.....problem solved
