Re: You might be driving a beater if.. Reply #1 – October 22, 2004, 03:27:15 AM Got halfway, only ones that applied were rattling (thinking front passenger brake) and a/c (compressor possibly bad). That's a LONG list. Quote Selected

Re: You might be driving a beater if.. Reply #4 – October 22, 2004, 02:07:57 PM lol, I should go through and find out how many my 84 qualifies for. But what is wrong with thumbtacks holding up your headliner? I think it is pretty cool.Jim Quote Selected
Re: You might be driving a beater if.. Reply #5 – October 22, 2004, 03:54:24 PM That's great. I used to drive a LeBaron that fit almost all of those qualifications. I was pulled over late one night because I was speeding a little. Here's how the stop went:Cop: Sir, do you know why I pulled you over?Me: I don't know, is my exhaust to loud? The ler rusted and fell off last week.Cop: Not exaclty...Me: Was it because my windshield has this huge spider web crack in it?Cop: No, you were going a little fast.Me: OH!! Yeah, my speedometer doesn't work either.Cop: Have you been drinking tonight?Me: Nah, feel free to search my car if you want. The cop proceeds to search my car and leans down on the steering wheel and it slips sideways on him.Cop: That's not very safe!Me: I've been meaning to get that fixed, sorry about that.He continues searching the car and asks me to move the child's booster seat on the rear floor board so he can check under it.Me: If I do that the driver seat will fall backwards, but okay.I demonstrate...After he searched my trunk and was satsified that I didn't have any alcohol - Cop: You better get this thing home before it blows up on you. I won't write you any tickets because it's obvious you probably couldn't pay for it if I did...Me: Thanks! Have a good night! Quote Selected

Re: You might be driving a beater if.. Reply #7 – October 23, 2004, 01:12:12 AM One they missed! If your seats have to be propped up on bricks cause the floor is rusted out. Every time you get into the throttle you fall into the backseat! Quote Selected

Re: You might be driving a beater if.. Reply #9 – October 25, 2004, 11:06:13 PM What about if you have (or ever have had) a rolled-up-&-tied-with-a-rope corrugated cardboard tube in the back seat holding up the backrest of the driver's seat? Quote Selected
Re: You might be driving a beater if.. Reply #10 – October 27, 2004, 08:47:06 AM This is the ONLY one that applies to my Bird... OK so I have mismatched tires during racing season, when I'm runnin the drag radials.QuoteYour windshield washer is a spray bottle of Windex.Actually I don't know if my washers work or not, I've never put any fluid in the resevoir. :hick:Anyway I wouldn't consider any car without a working W/S washer a beater. Well maybe those guys over on the Bently forum would, but not me... Quote Selected
Re: You might be driving a beater if.. Reply #11 – October 27, 2004, 09:29:46 AM QuoteYou have to leave your window open so you can reach inside to open the driver’s door. Um, I do this in the summer because of my shaved door handles... less wear and tear on the solenoid, does that count? ;)Yeah, as for the 85, lots of em apply for now... I was too lazy to read em all though Quote Selected
