Unwelcome member!!!

So, who is the clown that decided to make his first post about porn? I was shocked to see that here. Dont get me wrong, I dont have a problem with pictures of naked women, but I do have a 11 year old son that spends alot of time on the comp. & does check out the forum on occasion. This could suck if this becomes a problem. I hope I'm not alone on this one.

Post was moved to the mod forum so the admins can handle it.

It could have been much worse. At least he had the sense to blur the images. I had a feeling it would disappear fast. :P

It seems we had about two dozen spam bots join overnight. I got most of them deleted before they could post anything, but apparently a few got through before I could nuke 'em. I have since also deleted the threads that made it through (and most of them were NOT blurred, they were quite explicit).

Chuck, I'm glad you said that you moved that one thread, I was wondering how it got into a forum that the poster shouldn't have even been able to see! I thought we had a security breach or something...

*EDIT* In the time it took me to make this post two more joined. Looks like I'm gonna have to start personally approving all new members again...

I guess I should have clarified it more when I moved it.  I was just in a hurry to get out the door and wanted to get it out of the public forums at least.

You know, I didn't even observe a problem.  Either because I don't frequent the forum or because the mod's do a great job at maintaining this wonderful board.  The latter is much closer to the truth.

In fact, I only became aware of something wrong with Thunder Chicken's announcement.  Well, that and this site seems to be among the slowest websites I navigate (but it's probably just my ISP; there not exactly the best and the technology is still relatively new).

Good work; keep it up :roxor:.

They are pretty quick about this stuff here, I didn't notice any either
until I saw the announcement. Slow... I think that is a little bit of an far reach. As far as active members lately, yes a little slow but not the board.

As I did state earlier, I said in brackets, "it's probably my ISP".  Although, I don't understand exactly what you mean by "yes a little slow but not the board"... I was talking about the board... the forum... unless you were making a reference to the "board of moderators"? In which case, I agree 100%.

Edit: By slow, I meant to imply loading times, not the response time of the mod's.

It's probably not your ISP. It's been noted that the forum has been slow (performance wise) for some time. Some days, hours are worse than others.

The staff here has admitted that the host of this forum has been giving them issues with performance. A vB site is not exactly lightweight. Not long ago, the staff disabled some things to try and boost performance. Unfortunately, that is temporary as the more the board gets used, the larger it grows and the more resources it's going to use. It also matters what those users are actually doing. Some requests use more resources than others. Of course, then there is the matter of what other websites are on the same server and being hosted, too. I don't believe this website is on a dedicated server. But I could be wrong.
