Interesting.....

Doin a little research just to satisfy my curiosity....
The first year for the Hydraulic roller cam in a Ford Truck 302 was 1994.  Okay, say for arguments sake you have an 1988 cat or bird SO and want to do an extreme budget builup.  So you go to the junkyard and look for a good cam from a 94-96 Ford truck 302 because it's a hydraulic roller with the same firing order and you dont feel like doing a computer swap.

According to the Chilton's manuals  They have the same lift on both the intake and exhaust side which leads me to believe that they are in fact the same cam.  A parts inquiry on Autozone.com and parts america come up with different part #s however so I'm wondering what the specs are on a 1994 Ford F-150 cam for a 5.0.  I have a project idea I'm considering for an 88 tbird 5.0 this guy will let go for 600 bucks and before I get the truck cam I need to know if the truck cam is the same or not.

The cam lift may be the same but, the difference may be the duration.
Also the truck cam may not be the 15426378, like the SO 302, it could be 13726548
like the HO 302. I'm not sure :dunno:  Otherwise the cam should work fine.

yes, even if the truck has the same lift, the duration is probably different to help produce more torque

wouldnt make much sense to have a truck with the same powerband as a mustang
It's Gumby's fault.

That's what I figured, but I can't seem to find the duration #'s for either cam.  It would make sense for them to have different durations due to the fact that the trucks came with 19# injectors as oppsed to 14's.  As far as I know they have the same firing order as the SO's.

I stuck my foot in my mouth over on Ford Muscle and stated all the F-150s used the SO 15426378 firing order. I was promptly corrected that F-150s that have Mass Air use the 13726548 order just like the HO. What years this includes I don't know, but may have been when they switched to the roller.

Ok can't do that then because 94 was the year they did in fact switch to Mass Air.
Ok what about the Explorer?  Whats the firing order on them?

I checked the ol Autozone online, but it says our cars came with the HO firing pattern too.  Just want to confirm....

good enough for me.  Thanks Tom.  Found this.  It has a breakdown of Ford motors.  Down in the 302 section it has a listing for 1992-96 Non HO roller camshaft.  What would those have been in?

Dunno what the '92-'96 non-HO would be... They have a fairly good listing for the 5.0s but didn't see a '86-'91 non-HO roller listed.. Maybe thats a typo, since they list a '92-'96 HO???

Mustang 5.0 Technical Reference and Performance Handbook Gives 92 to 93 F-150 5oh's cam #F1AE-AA same grind as our SO cam but with longer bolt hole for sprocket. 94 to 96 F-150 5oh's have cam #F4TE-BA same as 96 - 98 Explorer which has 1542 order, .264 I lift, .280 E lift, 256 I Duration, 266 E Duration, 118 I lobe center, 114 E lobe center.
Can any one tell me how to calculate cam Lobe Separation Angle?

Great find!  Thanks!  I just might be able to do a budget buildup after all.  Price on that tbird came dowm to 550.  It runs cause the guy moves it and its got minimal rust and the body is straight.  I'll keep you posted.
