Interior Question: seat styles

Ok, I kinda feel like a dumbass asking this :hick: , but how do I tell what style seats I have?  I just purchased a full power passenger side seat {w/ power recline} from a local salvage yard, (the drivers side seat was f'd up pretty bad). So I've been looking all over to find a matching drivers side seat for my 88 cat, but I keep finding all of these different styles that don't match mine.  I've heard that there are styles like 50/50 or 60/40 ect...  I'm not exactly sure what that all means.  I figured if I know what that number is for the seat i have, I may be able to narrow my search down a bit to find a matching one (I really don't care what color it is cause its gonna get reupholstered anyway) - plus I was gonna post a thread in the wanted section for the drivers seat (but if I don't know what kind I need, it's kinda pointless).  The passenger seat that I just purchased was out of an 87, It's not the bucket style, I know that much.  The color scheme is sort of two toned - light grey all around W/dark grey at the end of the base and a dark grey strip across the middle of the backrest.  If anyone know's what I'm talkin about and can inform me on the style types, that'd be awesome.

If it helps, I'll see if I can get a Pic of the seat I have.

Thanks everyone.

Yea a pic would definetly help but i think you've got a luxury seat there like the ones out ot the Turbo coupe or mustang GT.

Yeah, that sounds like a Sport/Turbo Coupe/XR7 seat. What kind of car did you pull it from?
However, I've never seen one of those seats with the power recline option.

i belive its actually an lx seat. if it doesnt have the teardrop shaped tilting headrest or side bolsters they are the lx seats. ive only seen the power recline in those (must have been an option). split seats usually have the floating console mounted on the drivers seat. those were in lx and base cars.

these are my turbo coupe/sport bucket seats.

Yeah shame302 - You're right.  It is the split seat, cause the one I need has a floating console that is bolted to the drivers side seat frame and therefore moves with the drivers seat.  There arent any side bolsters either.  It's not like the one you pictured.  The seat I have didn't come from a TC or an XR7 either, it came out of a plain 87 Cougar LS.  So they're prolly just the base model seats.  I dunno if it's just me, but I think the base model seats are a helluva lot more comfy than the TC / XR7 ones.  Just cause I've driven on both styles before and my back dosen't hurt with the Base model ones as it did in the TC.  Thanks for clearin that up. :D

crystal has the seats you have with the power recline. she has the center console though. i pretty sure she put thos seats in there though. i like the tc seats mostly cause of the edjustable headrest/lumbar and bolsters. id still like a nice set of flo fits though.

Squirrel,
I've got a set of red cloth buckets from an '87 T-bird Sport that have the power recline.  They don't have the side bolsters like the TC's did.  The driver's seat does not have the attached console.  They came from a floor-shift automatic car with full console.  I had them listed on Ebay a time or two but never had any takers.  They are a very nice set.  The red is faded a little on the outer edges, but there's not a rip or hole anywhere.  Both were full power seats; however, I stole the power seat mount from the passenger side to use in my '84 LS Cougar, so now the red passenger is manual except for the power recline.  The recline switch is mounted to the side of the seat, so all you'd have to do to use them in your car is run a 12V power source to them.  I may not live terribly far away from you if you were interested.  Let me know if you'd like a picture of them.  Take care!    Fordman3
