Dog Pound?

So while me and the girl friend were out of town for the weekend supposedly our dog escaped our yard and was running loose in the neighborhood.  when we got home we found a note from animal control saying that our "Pitbull" was loose and that we have to show a license to own such dog in city limits in order to get our dog back.  our dog according to what the guy we got him from told us is a german sheppard part  ?    he didnt know the other half.  so now I am not sure what to expect when I call to find out about our dog and our land lord is telling us that the dog is not to be anywhere on the property.  just looking for alittle advice since I have never been involved with animal control.

Fight it if you have too. Things might go easy, Im sure there will be fees. If there is no way to prove there is Pit in the dog I dont see a case there. If your lease says that you are allowed pets I dont believe the landlord and go back on that now IF it is in the lease.

Papers on a mixed dog.... not common.

How them out of jail soon. Are they up on shots? If not you might want to do that after being in with all those dogs

I plan on fighting this the whole way. The lease says that pets are allowed with written agreement and the landlord never provided this written agreement after we paid our pet deposit. Today the landlord woke me up at 8am and was telling me that she came in our house when we were gone and that we have to clean to her standards and that the dog is not to come back here and that we have to get rid of our bunny.  while doing some searches on the net about tenant  rights in kansas I found that landlords have to give reasonable notice before entering the house for any reason.  The landlord told me that when she got here the dog was laying in the front yard and our cat was up in the tree and that she felt that her house was in danger her husband made it known to me that he is involved in drugs (cocaine, weed, ect.) kind of wondering if she is too...  her husband was busted with 10 kilo's of cocaine a few months ago with intent to sell so my girl friend and I have been talkiong about calling Crime Stoppers.

Get your dog back and find a new place, I wouldn't trust ANY landlord that walked into a house I was renting, whether they were legally allowed to or not, that's just flat-out immoral. I wouldn't be surprised if the owners of the house didn't call the ACO themselves...
Sounds like a shiznitty deal, and I hope you get your pet back.

Sounds like a bad situation - get your animals and go find another place to live.

You will be paying to get your dog back, regardless of what the situation is.

As mentioned before, you need to move out of that place.  I wouldn't want someone involved with drugs to be my landlord and have access to my place when I'm not home.

I would call the local police and report the landlord for breaking and entering... Even if she had a key, she can not enter without your permission, it's against the law, unless it's an emergency situation.

As for the dog... go to your vet and get a statement from them about what kind of dog it is. Take the information to the shelter and show them.
BTW, was your dog in the house when you left or had you left it outside? Was it tied when you left?

some landlords can deny you a pet depending on the breed.....  several homeowners insurances and renters insurances don't allow a pit, rot, or even german shephard as a pet in order to insure the property or it's contents...  i tried to get renters insurance from allstate and they had a list of 15 breeds of dogs (or if your dog is a mix of one) that they will not allow as pets on the property.... one of them was a Weimeramer (i guess they chew and dig too much) and another was an akita (have no idea why)....  there are even cities that are trying, or already have, laws against owning "fighting" or "agressive" breeds within city limits....so i don't know your exact situation, but there are many groups right now "cracking down" on local pet ownership

It sounds possible the landlord let your dog out. If so, I would be trying to collect the AC fees.
