Dyno run! July 20, 2008, 12:16:34 AM Peak from al three runs.HP 171 TQ 247ft lbsWe got 7 hp and 7 ft lbs of torque by bumping timing from 10 to 14. We didnt bump the boost because it will only hold 15... it has a bad leak at the throttle shaft. Mods. Deleted AC, gillis at 15, Timing at 14, K&N on the Vam, stock downpipe and y, 2.5 cat back with flowmasters. Next step, AFPR, 255hp pump, 65mm throttle body and ported intakes. After that, turbo and other stuff. This was a base line run.comments welcome. Quote Selected
Dyno run! Reply #1 – July 20, 2008, 12:37:02 AM Great starting spot! I wanna do a baseline run on mine as well, so I can compare the new engine when it's done. I'm pretty sure I'm right around 200hp at the wheels; should be at or a little above 250 at the wheels after the project. Can't wait to see what yours does. Quote Selected
Dyno run! Reply #2 – July 20, 2008, 12:49:24 AM You still have the IHI? I'd put a big downpipe on that list of first mods, and ditch the Flowmasters (they don't work well on turbo'd engines), otherwise sounds good. Quote Selected
Dyno run! Reply #3 – July 20, 2008, 01:36:48 AM x2 on exhaust. I felt a major difference when I added my FMIC. A guy gained 18hp with a Volvo front mount on his SVO! A T3 turbo will also make you smile. As for the TB, the biggest gain I felt was throttle response. However, with a gutted upper and ported lower, it's probably good for 5hp or so. Quote Selected
Dyno run! Reply #4 – July 20, 2008, 08:57:00 AM Pretty good baseline for a "stock" 2.3T.Get rid of that exhaust you have on the car, esp the FM's. That (the exhaust) is probably the reason you only gained <10 hp/tq by bumping the boost 4psi. I'd do the exhaust before you did the intakes/TB. Quote Selected
Dyno run! Reply #5 – July 20, 2008, 09:54:10 AM By bumping the boost? we bumped timing 4*. .We didnt bump boost because any more that 15 it will leak bad. I agree with the lers. Once i get the turbo and most of the other stuff done, we will dyno it again. during that run, we are going to swap lers and see what happens. Quote Selected
Dyno run! Reply #7 – July 22, 2008, 12:52:38 PM LOL no problem. We are going to see what a t-3 and an AFPR will do with 20 PSI. Any guesses to the gain? Quote Selected
