Back home.

Well, I just got home about 4 hours ago. I took it nice and easy on the way home, including spending the night and visiting with some relatives in Mississippi last night.

I noticed an improvement in mileage with my more relaxed speeds, too: I averaged 25.5 mpg on the way up, and got 26.4 on the way back down here (according to trip minder). I know I could do better if I ever get off my butt and fixed the cruise control! (a goal for next year) :D

One fun thing I did was pull off the interstate somewhere in Alabama to take this picture: (the odometer won't ever have that many pieces lit up again...well maybe in another 100,000 miles)

One other funny thing - When some of you at CatJam asked me how my trip up was, I told you the story of how I lost my passenger-side floor mat. When I pulled of the road to clean up spilled water from a turned over cooler I accidentally left it on the grass in front of someone's house a block off of the interstate somewhere in north Cincinatti.

Guess what? on the way home, I thought I recognized the exit where the incident had happened (recognized a particular hotel) so I pulled off, drove to the street where I had stopped to clean up last Thursday...and there was the floor mat...wet and smelly, but there! I couldnt believe it (both that it was still there...and that I even had a clue where to look for it!)

Didn't take the time time to get a pic of it, but it was laying there half on the sidewalk, and half in the grass between the sidewalk and the street...and the grass looked to have just been mown! The mat is fine, so the homeowner must have just moved it out their way to mow. I am still amzed it was not tossed out. This was a pretty nice looking street with very tidy homes.
