Hessitation at throttle tip in

On my 88' 5.0 Coug..

I pretty much have it running well. On start up it runs a little rough till the high idle circuit passes (any ideas as to why is does that) and then it smoothes out and idles nice. If I give it more then say... 1/4 throttle from a dead stop, it boggs pretty bad then goes alright.

I changed the oil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, and ran some Lucas in tank injector cleaner through it. I meen the car sat for 3+ years so it's a miracle it even moves on it's own free will at this point. I am just in process of making this one of my DD's and would like to resolve yet another driveability issue. The car currently does not have any lers and runs straight pipes after the cat to the tails. Sounds like a garbage truck too. I wonder if this is a back pressure (lack of) issue with the lack of the lers? I will be getting some 2 chamber flowmasters and new tails soon.

Thanks guys/girls..

Forget the back pressure, for the most part it's old wives tail, gone with carburetors... The EEC is going to correct A/F ratio by reading the o2 sensors...

First codes should be checked... If OK, verify TPS voltage at tip in with a buttstuffogue meter... Had a 4cyl Stang that did same, found voltage was decreasing at normal throttle opening, then increased as it went over 1/4 opening...
