Spring Question

Okay, first of all, forgive me if this is a repeat, but I did a search and didn't find the info I was looking for.

My 'Bird is almost ready to hit the road! After I start driving it on a regular basis, one of my first mods will be suspension. I plan on doing the SN95 front spindles with probably UPR's coil over kit. Now, I've been reading all the posts I can concerning the rear and it seems the overall concensus is to go with the adjustable lowers from CHE and Bullitt/Mach 1 springs. However, I haven't seen any info concerning springs from the FOX Mustangs (Pre-'93). I'm sure there's an obvious reason why no one is going this route, I'm assuming they're too short, but I'd just like to know...can somone help me out here? Thanks!:D

I think it's likely because a Fox mustang is lighter than our cars, and therefore would not have the required spring rate (they'd be too soft). SN95 Mustangs are similar in weight and weight distribution to our cars, so their springs are more like ours.

Fox springs are prolly shorter, too...

Chuck will tell you (he told me anyway) that they "won't work". I didn’t listen and used them anyway on the rear (couldn’t get a hold of front mustang springs), I got about a 3" drop. I say "about" because I didn’t actually measure a before and after.. the thing was just "slammed to the ground" contrary to what Chuck told me they did "work" if that’s what you want to call it, they mounted in, they had spring travel. the car cornered like it was on rails.

It also rode like it was on rails, bumps seemed twice the size they were, It was so low it was a pain to get in and out of (I'm too old to be sitting on the ground) and it threw the front end all the hell out of wack. I was TOTALY displeased with them and went Thunderbird Sport springs, now the car is back to driving halfway decent and I don't have to crawl UP to get out of it.

springs I had were 91 mustang and I was not happy with them at all.

I'm thoroughly convinced. SN95 springs for me. Thanks for the info guys.
