88 5.0 motor question..

Is it a roller motor? if not, what year did the couger/bird's first get them?
I couldn't find the info on here anywhere, so thought I'd ask outright. :D

Yes.it's a roller.

ALL passenger car 5.0s are roller from '86-up... Trucks generally have the roller block, but used a flat tappet cam...
