Re: got a question here about reconditioning emblems... Reply #1 – March 02, 2005, 11:59:36 AM If the emblems you are talking about are the one below then this may prove difficult. They are actually glass covered. You could try some glass polish. I actually got mine new from a place around here that deals in emblems. I gotta dig up their number (Iknow I have it around here somewhere). On the old board I gave the info of the place out to BigCat302. Maybe he has it more readily available than me. I will look for you though Quote Selected
Re: got a question here about reconditioning emblems... Reply #2 – March 02, 2005, 12:14:19 PM Those are cloisonné emblems covered in glass. A lot of times what happens is that the sun and elements degrade the emblem from the inside out, leaving areas that you cannot restore physically from the outside. You could always hunt eBay or swap meets for better emblems. A few other message boards also found this information:Emblem Restoration - Bob Gerrity28048 13th Ave S, Kent, WA 98032253-941-2043Cloisonne repair Quote Selected

Re: got a question here about reconditioning emblems... Reply #4 – March 02, 2005, 02:44:28 PM not a big deal. so it looks like i can't just se all the old off and repaint it. but one has a gouge in the "paint" and under it looks like its brass. Quote Selected

Re: got a question here about reconditioning emblems... Reply #7 – March 04, 2005, 08:13:36 AM Found the Number. The name of the place is Superior Auto Restyling. Phone # is (516) 997-8787. I have not dealt with him in a while, but he may actually have some ground effects kits left (the ol' GST ones). He had a TON of SE emblems though. BRAND NEW! He even had those flat hood emblems from the 84-86 models. I've actually been meaning to go back and see if they have a set of these:http://www.coolcats.net/fox/images/e_83dp1.jpg They are 83 door panel emblems. I had an idea. Quote Selected

Re: got a question here about reconditioning emblems... Reply #9 – March 07, 2005, 08:02:30 PM well chipping away all that old glass is bein a pain in the rear so i tryed to sand it down a bit and keep working on it. but when i sanded it it brought back the old look of it. looks brand new. now im over breaking away the old glass in the emblems. now i need to know if anyone has the gold and black special edition emblems like the pic above. they can be discolored just like the ones above but the black has to have no chips in it. if anyone has em and letting them go cheap i appreciate it. if not i can keep my eyes peeled for em.
