question on roller rockers

Hey guys, I had a question about changing my '87 3.8 rockers over to full rollers. Any problems with fitting the valve cover over them?
Also, whats the deal with the shim kits available. Do these motors require the shims or is on a "as needed basis".
I might not get to any motor mods this year since I want to get the body work done and primer applied. Thanks for ny info.

I did go through Jcassities "how to" looking for anything. Thanks for all the info in there. What a great read that is. Thanks for taking the time to type that out.

Good rockers on this site:

1.8 ratio for $350CDN.

FYI the stock ratio on the 3.8 is 1.72  NOT 1.6!

Shim kits are basically "as needed"  I would buy a kit for safety's sake.  On my old heads I upgraded to 1.72 ratio rockers for 1.6.  I had to shim 1 of the intake valves....the rest were perfect and the lifter was not collapsed.
