Is my monitor dying????

Over the past few weeks it has been getting darker and darker... I have the settings all as high as they'll go, but we can barely read the stuff on it unless it's on a white background.

Is it dying?? It's almost 8 yrs old, and it's a gateway.

Yes, the high voltage regulator is going. It can be replaced, but double the price and you can buy a new one. (monitor that is)

Where are you on Lake Erie?

Is it an LCD flat panel or a CRT?

You can get a decent 15-17" LCD for $150 or less these days, $200 will get you a nice big 19" or bigger.
