what Converter are you running?

well i need a new converter bc i dont have the original one for the car and would like to upgrage since the trans is gonna be out anyway. the guys on Corral seem to push Edge Converters. but they take like 5 days . to make and then 5 more days to ship. i was thinking maybe something from like jegs. or should i just. spend the money and wait  for this to be rite. im not talking like buying a 100 dolar converter. but not a custom. bc the car is stock.

ideas or pointers? what works good. what to stay away from?

well, i went with a percision industries stallion converter (dealt directly with them.) in both my mark viii and one of my tbirds. they worked flawlessly and i highly recomend them. just to note: i never had used anyone elses converter, the PI stallion is pricy and they are made to order for anything other than a mustang/standard order. they stand behind their stuff 100% also they will "re-stall" the converter for you once within 2 years of purchase date. this is great if you either change your setup/hp output or if you decide to go with a more radical stall for say, strip only as opposed to a street strip car.

I bought a 3000rpm converter from an online messageboard (californiafords.com) still haven't installed it, I was told it would be dumb to put it in with the stock SO and rear end/gears

Since the engine is stock, get a 2000 stall B&M(about $150.)... You can always up grade it later if you go to the larger engine, and sell it for $100.. I sold mine to chrome302jr and he made numerous nitrous passes on it. Told Ronnie it would blow to pieces, but he never had a bit of problem..

I now have the PI Stallion and its great, but no way I'd spend $600 for one to put behind a stock engine...
