Wow, on all my '87-88 Cougars, and my son's '87sport, the filter is in the relocated spot. :dunno:  Must be luck of the draw with these cars...lol :)

I'll have to look at the build date on my car. Maybe they changed things during the model year?

Repairing a lock cylinder that is frozen or sans keys requires a drill, gumption, and a midget on a tricycle.

Forgot to put on intake hose when starting the car, sucked neighbors cat into intake.

I don't think the 1.7s would be a good idea for the flat tops and E7s.. Although not quite as good as 1.6 rockers and E7s I would think you'd only be 10-15hp short with the E6s and 1.7s. I ran 1.7s on a '86 GT Stang with E6s, 5 speed, 2.73 gears, 2.5 cat back system, and stock H pipe. With a 60mm throttle body(stock was 58mm for the HO in '86) it would run 14.5s all day long. That was with a poor 2.2 60ft, with traction it would have gone 14.2s easy...

just another go-ahead for the HO intake and TB for the SO.

i just did this myself with no issues. i did also convert to 5 speed at the same time so maybe that helped the way the engine runs and revs. either way the car is much quicker.

i was going to use the 5.0HO (86' engine) from the donor mustang but i figured the S0 in the 88 sport runs realy well id just use the intake and TB (from an 88 mustang that i traded the 86' carbed induction stuff for) on that for now. the 86 was converted too a carbed setup and had a bad skip in it. i didnt spend any time trying to make it run good and didnt want to take the chance of swaping it back to FI and have something go wrong. i will most likely just toss the engine and get a 87 newer HO and rebuild that for the summer. if anyone is local to me and wants the 86 engine pipe up and you can have it.

My 87 sport has a June 87 build date, Lorain Plant. Don't think this has any thing to do with the lines placement. Once I get the lers, I'll do a mock up to see spacing before moving any thing. Thank y'all. eh!
