2.5" Mustang tail pipes

So I have a pair of 2.5" mandral bent tail pipes (Dynamax) for My T-bird. I'm just wondering if any mods have to be done to them (besides making them longer at the end to go to the rear bumper) to make them fit. It should just swap right in place correct? They do not have stainless tips since I'm going to add my own tips to take up the length to the rear bumper.

I'm thinking about using these tips: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HED%2D17146&N=700+4294923429+4294922677+4294900474+4294783510+115&autoview=sku and stoping them right where the rear bumper starts (ie they won't stick out past the rear bumper). Think of the stock 88 *dual* exhaust style exit. Any thoughts?

Those tips may not be long enough. I've added 4" before the rear-end (18" lers versus 14") and still needed to use these 13" tips to reach the rear bumper:

Get the pipes mounted first, then order tips!

All I did was make mine longer. I used 8" long tips plus I believe a 4 or 5" extension? Can't remember exactly. But if I recally, the Mustang pipes come up about 11" short.

As long as the pipes fit around the axle ok the tips shouldn't be a problem. I'm just going to have to find some:D

Well I had to "dimple" part of my passenger side pipe to clear this weird "box" in front of my gas tank, I dunno what the hell it's for or if it's on V8 cars.

when I was at Stinger fitting mustang tails on my TC they didnt have any problems fitting other than the passenger side, but with a few adjustments and no dimpling they fit fine.

I don't recall a *box* when I dropped my tank to install the larger fuel pump:dunno:

This is what I'm talking about. It's on the passenger side.

Actually, my pipes ended up in there a little bit weird due to some other issues, but the pipe ended up closer to that thing than I'd like, so I had to massage it a little.

I had to do the same thing RED LX.  I had to dipple the passenger tailpipe to fit around that huge gas tank mount. It'll fit though, just test fit the pipe and make sure you have good clearance. Remember the exhaust system actually grows in length as it heats up, so give yourself a good 1/2" clearance.
