hows it go'n...

Well, I know I haven’t been on here for a while now, but I really haven’t done anything to my car to speak of worth posting... until yesterday. I’ve been filling the stupid holes in the engine bay and so I have the engine and tranny out. Also, putting in more dynamat :hick: lol, so the interior is out too.

Well yesterday I had to move the car onto the lawn because a tree cutting service was coming and needed it moved.  In the process of moving it, I end up getting backed over by my dad in our Jeep Cherokee, pushed through the porch, and the quarter panel of the car almost gets smashed by the house because the Jeep hit the car too. Luckily the front clip was off because I was working on the holes so it’s not all smashed up. I was more concerned with the quarter then my leg not working lol...

I’m not sure what happened, but it did it before when my dad hit a car in a parking lot. As he put it into reverse to take the tension off the tow strap, it revved real high and took off... I heard it reeve up and pulled myself inside the hatch that was open. Otherwise, I may have been drug under the jeep lol.  Unfortunately though, my leg was kind of stuck under the back bumper near the tow hitch, so the inside of my right leg is messed up a bit, not broken though thank god.

Yikes. I'm sorry to hear that you got hurt, but at least it wasn't much worse. Small blessings, I guess. Hope you recover soon.

Wow. You're lucky you weren't pinned or crushed. I hate it when Jeeps get murderous. Must be one of those "It's a Jeep" things, reminds me of a strange incident with my old Cherokee. A few years ago, at the hunting camp, my father had driven my '87 Cherokee back from another camp and he'd left it in drive when he got out of it. The key cylinder was worn, so he removed the key even though the ignition wasn't locked (it was off, but not locked) and the lot was level so it didn't coast anywhere. He'd also left it in 4WD. The next morning we were getting ready to go hunting and one of the guys said "Isn't that your Jeep going by the window?"

We all ran out thinking somebody was stealing it. We were rather amazed to see nobody in it as it drove across the lot, through the fire pit, over the firewood pile (about 1/4 cord), over a couple of lawn chairs, and finally came to rest against a tree. When I got in it the ignition was still off. The thing had started itself up, and while on high idle and in gear made its way across the yard and through that obstacle course.

Further investigation found that at some point somebody had installed a remote starter that I wasn't even aware of. Somehow it must have gotten a "start" signal from somebody else's remote starter (how it did so in the middle of the woods is anyone's guess), and combined with a faulty park-neutral switch and my father's leaving it in gear and 4WD everything added up to that freak incident. Thankfully nobody (and no vehicles or anything else that could have been damaged) was in its way. I was actually quite impressed that it climbed over the wood pile...

My moms Jeep has mysteriously revved up on its own as well and I've read about it happening to other people as well. I'm glad to hear you're okay Nate.

Thanks guys, where did you hear about it happening else ware? This happened to my dad before but the dealer doesn’t believe him I guess...

Yeah our jeep I’ve had off road a couple times and it did quite well, had it idling over logs and stuff, climbing hills, ect. I love going off road.

Finally went to see my family Dr. today, he basically said "you did what! You have to go to the ER and have it checked out” then listed a bunch of things that could happen to my leg if it was bad... so 6 hrs later I leave the ER with a pair of crutches, prescription for Percocet’s, and on light duty for a week or so until the swelling goes down. No fractures, or bad blood clots, just a nasty bruise on the inside of my calf. I guess I'll have some extra time to myself for a while lol...
