Replaced gasket, drain plug still leaks February 03, 2008, 05:52:30 PM So I finally got new gaskets for my oil drain plugs (ok, well a couple months ago). Autozone only had copper (the ones I removed were plastic) but they don't seem to be any better than the old, spent ones. The plugs are torqued to max spec, which doesn't even seem to be enough to crush the copper IMO. Think the copper is the problem? Quote Selected
Replaced gasket, drain plug still leaks Reply #1 – February 03, 2008, 06:30:57 PM what i do with a troublesome drain plug is after you drain the oil and put the plug in is to clean it with carb spray dry it off really well and seal it with ultra grey permatex. works good. Quote Selected
