car lot trying to screw me!!!!!!!! January 04, 2008, 08:07:29 PM can someone please run a car fax for me? bought a 2004 mercury mountaineer,front axle went out the first week,lot fixed that but it took a couple weeks,two weeks after i got it back the rear axle tweaked they say its gonna cost ME 1500 to fix it. the car is not abused,it only has about 63000 miles on it. why would both axles go out within weeks of each other?looked at the car fax site and it says 11 reports on this vehicle,i cant afford to buy these services at the moment,any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!:beatyoass: Quote Selected

Reply #4 – January 05, 2008, 11:41:07 AM that result from carfax is nothing to be alarmed about. the eleven reports is true,, some cars have 6,others have 10 ect ect. The reports are "catagories".Within each catagory is the information you are looking for. Sounds like the car may have been improperly towed.Ill sign back up for a carfax account but id like to have a donation which will go back into the coolcats site. Quote Selected

Reply #7 – January 06, 2008, 04:09:01 PM yea like bird4us said, i've always heard people scold others saying that a carfax report isnt gospel b/c the records on there are only as good as whoever reports to them, IF they report at all. but you should be able to call and ask about it from the people who did report couldnt you?
