motor has a hard time starting Reply #17 – February 08, 2008, 12:00:50 AM hellsing73DOOD!! your killing me!you dont need a code reader, like i said, you only need a paper clip. If you wanna get fancy, get one of those buzzers or beepers from some old toy thats broken or a real 12 buzzer like whats in your car.Use the buzzer in substitute for the test light and you will have an audible code reader. So,, basic parts to pull codes......paper clipfancy parts to pull codes, paper clip and test light or dc buzzer.even more fancy would be a "code reader" which is a waste of money.http://www.therangerstation.comor my diy link has all that and codes.Like i said, you need to go through that 3.8L with a fine tooth comb. stalling and such could be clogged injector screens or carbon buildup on the base of the CFI. Shot gun it if you want though,, its up to you.Booksixremoving the red boot off the starter solenoid removes the 12 power delivery from the ign sw to the relay or winding side of the starter "relay". the ground of the coil or winding is obtained by the two screws holding it to the side of the engine bay. Un hook it and use a on/off switch (ie-remote start sw) from bat pos to "S" terminal and you can crank the engine over if the switch is held on. Good for doing compression testing by yourself or whatever. Quote Selected
