Oh wow this has been dug back up.

I guess I might as well mention that my pass. window is still good, I knew going with JB Weld would be a good idea. That stuff keeps on amazing me. Once it dries its ROCK hard, and HOLDS.

What about alignment? (Placement of the clips on the glass)
I re glued my passenger side about a year ago (don’t recall what glue) and both (sides) are working loose now so it’s time to try again.

When I had the window out I cleaned it spotless to allow the adhesive to stick thus removing any sign of where the clips were originally.
I then re attached the clips to the framework and applied the adhesive to the clips then inserted the window into the clips.
I then rolled the window up to seat it tightly into the frame (while playing with the clips on the way up to center them as much as possible before it topped out) and let it dry there for a few days before using it.

I noticed once I started using it that the window didn’t go up and down as smoothly as it did stock.

Anybody know of a better way to align the clips?

I was told THIS slight miss alignment is truly the reason why we can’t find glue that works. It’s not as much of a “type of glue” issue as it is an alignment issue, and a slight binding of the window as it’s rolled down is causing the window to pull from the clips. Not the glue giving out! THIS is the reason the factory glue job’s last so many years and ours don’t and why we can not find the ever elusive “magic 15 year adhesive” the factory uses.

This “theory” was told to me when I did my passenger side and was looking for the elusive “magic 15 year adhesive” by an old timer about 80 years old (not exaggerating) that I had asked. Old Man Bill just passed from cancer last month RIP. My experience with this old guy is that he is VERY wise and I’m inclined to believe him. Just don’t know how to better align the window, and he didn’t know how on fox’s either he just knew that THAT is the reason people can never find a ‘ Magic GLUE” that works… the problem is not with the glue.

Now had my car been a 63 Buick he could have told me the proper alignment procedure!

Anybody ever hear any thing about how to properly align them when you glue the clips on?
I googled for it last night and couldent find anything.
