Anyone know the weight of the power seats in 88XR7s? November 14, 2007, 01:24:05 AM I know they are heavy, but I am wondering if it is worth it to get something lighter.Do 91 Lx coupe seats bolt in place of my stock electric ones? Quote Selected

Reply #1 – November 14, 2007, 03:23:15 AM No, the floorpans are different between Mustangs and Tbird/Cougar.So are the seat bases...and before you ask, manual seat tracks for BOTH sides of a Tbird/Cougar are getting to be kinda uncommon, lolA rough guess, but I'd say you could save around 30-40 pounds by going to a manual seat base. Those electric suckers are heavy. Quote Selected

Anyone know the weight of the power seats in 88XR7s? Reply #3 – November 14, 2007, 09:04:59 AM The XR7 seats aren't much heavier than normal seats. It's the power bases that are heavy. Your best bet would be to try to find a junked base 'Bird or Coug and just get the non-power bases to use with your XR7 seats.I was gonna install power seats into my 'Bird but decided against it the moment I lifted one of those bases. I have one of the *rare* dual power seat cars too........... All the avaliable 88 LX options but a sun roof and block heater will make a T-bird heavy as hell (though not as heavy as my 95 MN-12;) ). Anyone know the weight of the power seats in 88XR7s? Reply #7 – November 14, 2007, 12:54:44 PM I've got 2 sets of those heavy POS power tracks sitting in the garage. My '83 had dual power seats. The tweaking the seating position option was nice, and if I had a "cruiser" then maybe I wouldn't worry about it.As mentioned, the manual TBird tracks are getting hard to find. I know I have seen a member that adapted some Mustang tracks, but it's not a "bolt-in" deal.It is probably a 30# difference or so. I'm not in the mood to drag a set down from the shelf to weight it though. Quote Selected
