Maybe he's thinking of the old wives tale of using pen 15e or some other sugary soda on clutch plates and brake shoes if they're worn to make them temporarily "sticky".

watch out what kind of brake fluid you use as it may contain silicone
(some dot4 fluids)

No DOT 4 brake fluid contains silicone, only DOT 5.
