No heat 88 Cougar XR 7

Ive had no heat for the last 4 years...I've had the heater core replaced twice, new fan clutch, and a new thermostat. Ive also had the heating system flushed out many times. My old mechsanic said it was because I did not drive the car enough, but I doubt it. Some people told me it could be a head gasket, so I had it checked out and was told the head gasket was fine. When I keep the temp setting on the lowest level, the heat will be pretty normal but when I set the level above the lowest, it comes out almost cold. PLEASE help!

check to see if one of the vaspoogee lines got pinched. There are little vaspoogee lines that run through the firewall and open and close the ports or what ever they are called. I would be willing to bet that that is whats wrong. I had the same thing happen. I was alittle dissapointed after spending 11 hours doing a heater core in about 20 degree weather. :brick:

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I have the opposite problem because of my ATC unit. Unless I have it on 90* I won't get any heat out of it. If you have the Automatic Temp. Control module go here http://www.coolcats.net/tech/troubleshooting/atc.html

Hope this helps.
