5.0 Shot?

Well I picked up my car from the repair shop.  GOt a new exhaust, main seal and oil pan gasket were changed.  Temoarate and fuel filter were aswell.

Driving down 287 saw some white stuff coming out the back thought it was the rain because of other cars having it, drove 15 miles driving 70 mph and got to my exit.  Stopped the car at the red light and white smoke was coming from under the hood badly. I turned off the car put up the hood and anti-freeze was all over the engine....

Well got a tow truck to bring it back to the repair shop but I think my engine is gone........

<--- Really pissed off...

Sorry to hear about that hope you get it fixed soon i hate when you drive your car a hour or less and it messes up on you and goes back to the shop or parked outside to you get it fixed.

If it is related to the repair, and it most likely is then they need to fix it or make it right.  Problem is they will not give you a free replacement motor just the value of a good running XXX mile motor, or  swap in a motor with similar miles.

Might have just popped a coolant hose. As long as it didn't overheat it should be ok.

Mine was overheating, Spitting up coolant and white smoking like crazy (under the hood) after running.
So i picked a code reader and it said my oxygen sensors were bad, as well as my engine coolant temp sensor (ECT).
Dunno if thats the case here, just throwing it out there.

You can't kill a 5.0.  I've ran mine many of times overheating, and I'm not talking 5 miles, more like 50!  So don't give up hope.  Probably just something small that won't be to bad.

white smoke from the exhaust? sounds like coolant in the motor.... makes me think HG, but smoke under the hood doesn't. But its hard to say from that description. Unless you meant it came from under the car, then my guess is a hose.

That's what my money is on.

Same thing happened to me in my 3.8 a few months ago.

Did you even check the gauge to see if it was overheating? Chances are that it wasn't.
My guess is that a cooling line popped. Maybe the one to the lower intake where the thermostat is since they messed with it. I'm willing to bet that if you tighten/replace the offending hose, top off the antifreeze you'll be gold.

Been there a few times.

Problem was a heating hose which ripped open saids the guy, he also replace the temp sensor with a new one so my temp gauge works...  so now I can tell if it over heats r not... everything works so my 5.0L is still living thank god * Wipes sweat off forhead *

Good to hear!  Like I said, it's very hard to kill a 5.0L.  I took mine apart after 200,000 miles and it looked brand new!
