Took a ride in:

The car of one of my schoolmates today. It was a black on black 98 Z-28 6 speed with bolt-ons (worked AFR Heads, big cam, headers, true duals). It was without a doubt, the fastest car I have ever driven in my LIFE. And I have driven a few fast ones. On 17" wheels with 245/45/17 DR's, I have watched this car run an 11.13 @ 118 mph, but never drove it before today. Every once in a while, something comes around a has me re-gain my respect for the chebbie's. But for some reason, it still doesn't make me want to build my 88 up any faster than it is.

i drove one of those except it was a trans am with a 6speed. they are fast, but the power increase is so gradual. i like how our cars its just their immediatly.

F-bodies are great bang for the buck. Only problem is, you have to drive an F-body! There's a reason it never sold well and GM canned it.

Rather spend more $$$ to make a late model Mustang that fast.

The LS1 engines are the most advanced OHV V8s that I have had experience with. Ive built 3 LSI engines so far, one stock bottom end with ported heads and a second one which is a friend of mine. It has AFR heads, .600+ lift cam, LS6 intake, 30lb injectors(keep in mind they operate at 58psi), Mahle pistons, Eagle rods, ARP throughout, long tubes, and lots of tuning with LS1 edit.

With the car built and properly tuned, that was one of the best street engines Ive driven, and Ive been in a couple low 9 sec rides. Usually I would run it wot through 4 gears and he would data log. You have to understand that these engines need to be in their power range, which is why some think they come on 'slow'. The engine we built came alive at 4000rpms and topped out at 7. This is because the heads flow very high numbers, and this will raise the hp power range. With a 6spd and 4.10 rear gears, it was a wet dream to drive. Another thing I liked was the tuneability of the engine with the LS1 edit system. It was great with the EFI live data logging combined with the LM1 wideband. Youd think I was a GM driver lol. No really you have to give credit where credit is due. And I personally am not a fan of the 4.6 2V Ford mods, and even the 4.6 4V Cobra engine have the famous "tick" which Ford will not own up to...I'll stick with my windsor...or an LS1 lol.

I only heard of 2.9 Ranger engines having a famous tick..? And every chrysler 4 cylinder engine ever made..

There is a guy around here that has a WS6 Ram Air Trans Am (that name even spells performance) It is one bad ass car. Personally I would own one over a mustang, but hey it cost like 10000 more than a mustang new.
