I just got mooned...

Shpla-dou!

Took these shots tonight with my Bushnell reflector telescope and my Canon S32 camera. I have no mount for the camera; I only hold the lens up to the eyepiece and hold 'er steady.
You will notice some of the shots show a clearer, whiter moon. This is because I was fiddling with the settings on the camera.
The moon was still low on the horizon, so I switched it up and went for true color - this setting gave me the images with a red hue.
The moon had a red hue due to its proximity on the horizon. This is because, from our viewpoint, we have to look through all of the layers of the atmosphere at an angle.
Did you ever wonder why the moon looked so big when it was low on the horizon? Well, that's why. It's simply an optical distortion from our angle at looking through the atmosphere.
That's why the moon looks so small and bright white when it's near the zenith (top center point of the sky); we're looking straight through the atmosphere, which gives us a less inhibited shot at the moon.

The other shots...

See that black stuff covering the moon in the second shot? Clouds.
Very cool stuff, right?

Awesome shots! I tried to do something similar a while back. Not using a telescope but binoculars. I couldn't get a steady balance between them and the camera so my only result was a somewhat fuzzy ball due to the slow shutter speed.

Try squatting next to your car and propping your elbows up on the fender. I've done this to stabilize my shots.
