T-5 selection.

I've been doing a lot of reading on the auto to T-5 swaping. I see that it is bad to use the 4 cyl tranny. Every one says it will not handle the tourqe. Is that due to the lower gear ratio? I read on fordmuscle.com that the V 8 ones were good for between 265 and 300 ft/lb. Does anyone know what the ratings for the 4cyl. and 6 cyl. would be? And what are the gear ratios?.

The reason I ask is I found a 6 cyl T 5 thats pretty cheap. I don't think I'm going to be making more than 175-185 hp any time soon. Do you think this will work?

At very least it would get all the prep work done until I'v got cash to build on it a bit and make some power. Then a tranny swap is just an afternoon in the garge:burnout:

Well the V6 T-5 will not work without doing all your homework and using un-mainstream parts...  I'm doing it.. but you have to use odd parts to make it a "bolt in".
