Im working with a couple people in DMV to gather information on how many fox tbirds/cougars are still registered legal on the road today.  They and I are struck for the moment because of the VIN number grouping.

Eric,, you good at this stuff?, looking for a pattern as to only group birds and cougs from 83-88

anyone else?

Yes because this is another "i relized something thread".  I have drove around the past few months to several states and i personally have ran into 2 fox cars.  Im starting to feel like the lone ranger to tell you the truth.  Not many of us around anymore.

After 20yrs there aren't many of them around any more.
I personally know of about 5 fox bird's and one cougar in my neck of the woods but barely ever see any of them.
Hell their next to impossible to find in the salvage yards up here let alone on the street.

You wanna see Fox Birds and Cougars? Come here to Missouri. We have lots of them. I know I sell parts for our cars more than you would think. Lots seem to be on the road here.

It should be fairly easy for the '83-'86 models, as I believe all Birds were body type 46 & Cougars were 92...

It's the '87 & '88 that are more complicated, since the body types were broken down into the different models... Base 60, Sport 61, LX 62, & TC 64...

I don't keep up with the Cougs, but this info is in the shop manuals...

EDIT... Apparently Ford stepped on his dick and didn't bother to update the body info in the '87 manual(at least not in mine)... It still has the same info as the '86 manual which is DEFIANTLY INCORRECT for '87... VIN info for '87 & '88 is basically the same except for the TC engine code which changed for '88...

Anybody have a set of '88 manuals???
