serious question. i need some advise.

the motor in my truck is a big bored stroked rowdy ass 2.3 turbo.  it makes a lot of power and i love the hell out of it.  i've had the ranger for a long time and it was my very first project.  this truck means a great deal to me.

the thunderbird is a great car, minus the minor issues that it's got.

i'm pulling the motor on the car this week to fix a few things.

here's my options:

-leave well enough alone and redo the car motor and put it back in.

-fix the car motor and put it in the truck, taking the truck motor and putting it in the car.

option 2 would put me daily driving the ranger and using the bird as my toy.
the car already has an 8.8, it's already got the t5, it's more aerodynamic (by FAR!)... i just don't know what to do.

what do you guys think?

If the truck runs good and you can depend on it to get to work, leave it alone. Why risk having two vehicles with issues just to solve a problem with one?

Drive the ranger and fix the bird right.

neither one of the vehicles will have problems.  i do all my work properly.  the question is which one do i make the daily and which one do i use as the toy.

in all likely hood, i'll end up putting the motor from the truck in the bird then do some typical mods to the stock motor that will be going in the truck.  i can't leave anything stock for long.

in all honesty, id get the bird up and running.  It would be a nice change of pace plus better gas milage and comfort.

The truck is in itself a toy as well cause it can do all the other things like hauling or off roading , whichever you prefer. Sounds like your caught between a rock and a hard place.  Maybe getting the bird up will motivate you to do things to the ranger you might have been putting off.  The last thing you would want to do is have two cars down.

I saw your other thread on the mystery oil leak kicking your butt,, whats up with it?  presure wash the engine then restart hunting the leak.
you sure the turbo oil lines / turbo arent leaking?

both vehicles run.  i'm still driving the bird to and from work.  the head is off the ranger right now, but other then that there's nothing wrong with it.  having 2 vehicles down really isn't a problem... i've got a couple other cars to drive.  as far as the oil leaks on the bird.  i've washed it down and drove it a little... well turns out that was too much.  it was already soaked in oil again.  it's just easier to work on them out of the car.  plus, i want to go ahead and replace the oil pump and i figure while i'm in there, i might as well replace the main bearings.
