Headlight switch ????

the headlights on my 88 XR-7 just ped out today. Headlights dont come on at all (just the drivers lights) and to get the high beams working I have to hold the switch in which turns them on / off. If I let it go they go right off when they should be staying on. Could  the headlight switch itself need to be replaced?

Swap it.

Sounds like you need a new dimmer/multi function switch. Either that or you have a bad connection where the plug plugs into the rear of the dimmer switch.
