Keyless Entry

My car never came with an owners manual so I don't know how to set the code for the door. I know the code, infact I still have the card I'd just like to set it to a number I can remember. Can someone help?

enter the code from your card then press the 1/2 button for i think 5 seconds release then enter the code u want within 3 seconds. then u should be able to hear the doors unlock . you can also push the 3/4 button after u hear the drivers door unlock and unlock the other door/doors .and the 5/6 button to unlock the trunck on some cars . pressing the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time locks all the doors . cant remember how to set up the auto lock feature that locks the door when the car goes from reverse to drive . but this should help u .

Thanks for the help works perfectly. I didn't set the autolock cause that wire under the driver seat isn't connected. The new code works and the old code works so thats something to fall back on if memory slips, however one thing I noticed is that when locking the door from the pass. side button, it doesnt completely lock it so I set off the alarm a few times, nothing big and it doesn't bother me, its just cool having a car this old with a factory alarm. Well except that the voice gets really annoying, I've been told my door turned into a jar about 1000 times now. :hick:

FYI -- the system will revert back to the factory code if you lose battery power.  You'll have to re-do the programming process. ;)

Well that sucks, I usually have the battery disconnected twice a week!

Since we're on the topic does anyone sell new decals for the buttons? Mine are faded pretty badly.

AFIK no decals, orig numerals were molded in, complete pad can be replaced if you find a nice one... If it's from some other model, prob will have to splice the wires...

And yes it reverts back to the factory code if the battery is disconnected... A code can't really be changed only a second added(well if you know how to read and change the internal jumpers that are soldered in place, the factory code can be altered), I've done it...

I found a sequence of numbers somewhere on the Internet that will open up 5-key cars in about 10-15 minutes. Just punch in the sequence and it'll open sooner or later in the sequence.
Not sure if that sequence was widely available in the 80s and early 90s ;)

Consider yourself lucky, the novelty of the voice wears off within a week.
