I feel your pain. Mine has been doing the same thing ever since I had problems with my instrument panel gauges not working. Still haven't traced out why it stays lit up.

if its always on, the low fuel warning module located in the upper right hand side of the instrument panel is delivering constant power to the already grounded light bulb (low fuel warning) / via the yellow black wire..

swap the low fuel level module and see if that helps,, good luck finding one.,, likely you could wire up the circuit with a low ampacity relay if and eventually we all find it harder and harder to find these oem parts.

for troubleshooting, on the cluster there will be a tan wire located on connector C285.  First , unhook this wire by extraction ect and the light should go out.    Also, it appears the low fuel warning module is getting 5v input from the dark green / white wire in addition to a 12v input from a fuse via the red/yellow wire.

Check the Dark green / white wire for 5v dc to verify it has the low voltage input going to the low fuel warning module.  If it does ,, and the volage appears at the module,, verify there is also a 12v input (all this done with key on when its safe to do so).

if both your voltage inputs are good and appear at the module,, swap the module out.  If either 5 or 12v voltage inputs are missing, find out why and that will fix your light issue.
