Are car and truck blocks differn't?

I heard somewere that Car 5.0 blocks are differn't than the truck 5.0's Is this true? Also would a 5.0 out of a mid 90's truck be a roller block with higher flowing heads?

no they are pretty much the same,the intake is flipped around the other way, (meaning that the intake is on the drivers side)so the fuel rail will get in the way if you try to use one. So you might have to get a spacer or put your fuel rails on it. As always the sensors and stuff will be alittle diffrent. I do belive that the 90's trucks will have an so camshaft, because it has better all around tourqe.(for towing) and the e7's are easiest (IMO) to find on 90's trucks

The later roller block trucks use a cam with the old 302 firing order that is the same as the 5.0SO. However, they are equipped with 19# injectors and are designed with more lift. I'm not sure on the specs of them, but I would imagine if you wanted some cheap power and you were handy you could swap one into an SO 5.0. I would NOT use the truck computer with this setup. Best bet would be to get an AFPR to give the cam the extra fuel it needs. Our stock computers are SEFI while the truck computers use bank fire injection. In other words the truck computer sprays all 4 cylinders on one side at a certain time as opposed to SEFI which is designed to release fuel as each cylinder requires. At least that's how it was explained to me! :hick:

Also the truck intakes are completly different than the car 5.0, some use the lower with an aftermarket upper. :D

I am just trying to find a block and heads right now. I have an intake off of an 89 mustang with injectors and fuel rails, I also have the maf and the computer.

Paul the term your looking for there is "batch" .

Now what about an engine out of a late 80's truck?
Would it have the correct firing order, Honestly I'm not worried I'm gona put a nice cam in it anyway so I'll just get the motorsports cam with the correct firing order.

I had heard the motor mounts bosses were differn't, if this is not true it will be much easier for me to find the start of my new engine.

I'm pretty sure the mount bosses are the same. Not to hijack, but I have an autozone question, what is with these "salvage" parts I heard about on the commercial? Does autozone really carry used parts now?

they can order parts that are used, they have been checked over though.. prices suck balls

our store hasn't sold anything of it yet

The salvage parts are throught a company called "everdrive" they offer a good deal on items such as transmissions and just about anything. There prices aren't that bad. I called and a quote for my tranny was 300 and something. That's not bad because they clean the parts and test transmissions and engines to make sure they work... then they offer a 1 year warrenty. no other junkyard has a 1 year warrenty around here.

To the best of my knowledge, roller cam truck long blocks are identical to to a HO(but not the cam as already mentioned). Problem is the trucks switched to a roller cam AFTER the HO(and I don't know exactly when), so you'll have to be careful if you go that route. It's been said a lot of the truck 5.0s were roller blocks, but still used the flat tappet cams. My buddys '85.5 port EFI F-150 is not a roller block, but then only HO 5.0s had the roller that early.

The nearest goldmine has a few of the truck engines. and the u wrench it in colombus always has few, of course there I could just pull the intake off and find out if it was a rollor engine. Correct me if I'm wrong but the roller engines have the spider thing holding down the lifter retainers like the chevys right?

Cougar SE. You're right the term is batch. :hick: My Bad! I wanna say that the trucks switched to roller block in 93...Not 100% on this though....
