You have not driven a couch until you rode in my old 78 cadillac eldorado. It had the pillowtop seats. the most comfortable car I ever owned or drove in. Also had some get up and go as well. Noone would even think of cutting me off when I drove it.

Actually, YOU haven't driven a couch until you've driven a 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. This was the long-wheelbase version of an already HUGE car. You could probably park your Eldo AND my Town Car in that thing's trunk! I ended up driving it because one old man died and left it to another old man, but the living old man was afraid to drive it so he asked me to drive it to his house. It was a forty mile ride of pure opulence. 500CI engine, working A/C, white leather furniture (and I do mean "furniture" - to call them "car seats" would be an insult), and a long-distance call to the rear seat occupants. It also had some pretty neat old-school solutions to luxury - a little mechanical compass on the door mirror, for example. I swear the hood ornament got there ten minutes before I did...

As for my Town car - it's showing a 28MPG average on the trip computer for the 250 miles worth of driving I've done with it. Much, much better than the Volvo, and about the same as the T-Bird. I've only put $40 in it so far (remember, gas here costs over $4/gallon) and it still has 1/4 tank and the DTE display shows about 180km (110 miles) 'til empty. One advantage to living in the boonies is that EVERY trip is a highway trip :hick:
