Overspray insurance claim

A while ago, there was an incident where my motorcycle got some paint over spray on it from a construction site nearby.  Now I'm dealing with the insurance company for the contractors and need some kind of idea what I should expect.

The paint that settled onto my bike is white, the bike is black... It's covered in really tiny white specs, even on the chrome and the mirrors.  It's not detrimental, but it's THERE and it annoys me to no end.  Since it's a matte finish, nothing can really be done in the way of buffing without leaving a glossy finish.  It will have to be repainted...  I'm going to push for them to cut me a check, but how much?  I know how much the supplies cost, but what can I possibly ask for since I will do the labor myself?

Could use a clay bar on it, it wont make it shine and will get rid of the paint. It shouldnt make the matte finish shine.

get 3 estimates  take the average  and something in that area is what you should get..........doing the work yourself  should you choose to has no bearing as you are entitled to the value of the loss caused by their insured.............if the shoe was on the other foot they would come after you for full restitution......you are also entitled to the cost of substitute transportation while repairs are done as this is also part of the loss caused by their insured

Yup what mjbtbrd said
3 estimates and average them, add rental cost for a bike for the average time the shop's will need your bike to do the work...
THATS what you should expect.
