Re-torque of Intake...

Ok, I understand you're supposed to re-torque the intake after the car has been run up to operating temp.  I did so (while the car was still warm) and noticed that no bolts really felt loose.  Should I have waited until the engine cooled back down?  Methinks this is the case and I'll be  removing the upper intake for the 5th time!  I'm getting to be a pro at it!

Advice?

I should mention this is on my '88 Grand Marquis... same as our cars in 86+

maybe they aren't necessarily supposed to be loose, just not torqued down properly?

let it cool down, then torque again

when theyre warm, the metal expands, which will be what puts the pressure on the bolts, causing them to possibly loosen, then when it cools down, the bolt is still loose
It's Gumby's fault.

Well, it's all back together and running. Now the cooling system is fornicates0red. Filled it up with coolant, ran it till the t-stat opened, started sucking down water like a $2 w. Started warming up and then I get this banging noise coming from inside the radiator and the bottom hose is pulsating along with it. Drained the radiator (goodbye $16) to find nothing really wrong. Might I have a chunk of ice somewhere in the cooling system?

Maybe not!  I drained out the antifreeze and refilled it and so far it looks good.  Coolant isn't recirculating very fast, but I have good heat and the car doesnt' seem to be overheating.  Making some kinda rattling in the passenger side exhaust near the cat that sounds like a knock or a lifter when the engine is under load, but I'mma change the oil and fugheddabout it.  I vowed that the next time I got the car running I'd leave it go and just drive it.  This is my only means of transportation right now, so I'm going to just hope she makes it through the winter.
