What is this stuff???

Ok, so after doing the old K&N install, I noticed this silver box, with a  on it sitting on the Air Filter Mount. It has a copper looking wire coming out of it, and on the end looks like a Water-Temperature sensor. Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know how to get rid of this white build up where the Front License plate holder used to be?

I don't know if that box is stock or not. I can't locate it the old Repair Manual. And that Temperature probe has just been sitting in there. I don't know where it should be put into.

On top of the Silver Box it says "Electra Temp Controller"?????

BTW, do you mean rubbing compound?

That's an aftermarket fan controller. Looks like my Flex-A-Lite unit.

You use the  to adjust how hot the engine is for the fan to come on...
It's Gumby's fault.

Electric fan temp controller. Cannot tell from the pic but are the wires still attached or cut off at the connectors. If still intact trace the wires and see where they go.

Well, also, the probe on the end of the copper tubing needs to be in the coolant stream or in the fins of the radiator. Just make sure the tubing isn't kinked or it won't work.

FYI that looks like the same one I have, although it apparently isn't hooked up anymore.

Try some Soft Scrub on the white residue. I used it today to remove some rust stains (coming from the door hinges) took it off pretty easily. You'll definately want to wax it as soon as you can.
