Cat Jam Sunday Event

As you know, on the weekend of Cat Jam we usually go to Summit Racing on Sunday. We've gone 2 years in a row and generally, those that went have enjoyed it. However, this year is going to be different, and let me explain why.

First and most importantly, we have an employee of Jeg's coming to our show. I don't want to put him in an awkward situation, especially after Jeg's was so kind to send us some goodie bags for every CJ entrant. They've been great to us...so we have to repay that by not visiting their competition this year.

But there is also a very good second reason. Every year, about 25 miles from the hotels, there is a car show that I've never been able to attend because it's always the same weekend as our show. This year, we will be attending that show. And you're going to be very pleasantly surprised as to the vehicles involved....

For many years, downtown Warren, OH was the headquarters for Packard Electric, so named after the classic Packard cars of the 1930's-40's. The Packard brothers were from Warren. Several years ago a national Packard museum was built in Warren, and every July there is a huge Packard show at the museum. If you know anything about classic automobiles, Packards are the cream of the crop. The coolest thing is that the front of the museum looks like the front of the cars...

We will be attending a free all makes/models car show on Sunday, July 24 from 11am-4pm. The free registration form is here:

I'll post any additional info on the show here.

BTW, I'm calling the museum on Tuesday (they're closed Mondays) to see if they can accommodate us without any problems. We may just need to do a group registration instead of individual ones. I'll report back here.

This sounds like it will be fun.

An uncle of mine had a late 20's or early 30's Packard. (He passed away a few years ago, and it was inherited by his son-in-law). I have not seen it in quite awhile, but I do remember riding around his neighborhood and going out to a restaurant in it once when I was a kid. it was definitely not a "show" car - but it was all original and unrestored, and it ran!

I think I'd like to go to the museum with everyone, but that means I'd be getting out on the road really late Sunday, and wouldn't get very far before I'd need to stop somewhere. I might give RedRoof a call and see if I can add a night onto my reservation...

I'm a gettin' excited :drink:

Can you send the drunk you had with you last time?  He was a riot!  Just kidding man, I'd rather have you be able to make it... I still can't even picture what that paint looks like.  Camera's can't capture it!

Would you believe Fro has sobered up! His drinking kinda got out of hand and almost caused him to lose his job and family. The state you guys saw him in over the weekend at last year’s CJ was the state he stayed in on a regular basis.

He’s back to his old self now. Thank goodness for that!

... I really want to come this year, but I started a new job and had to move. Plus the Cougar needs some work done. The work is so extensive I pray it’s finished by NEXT years CJ!
