my bad, I meant bird brain...long day at the office!!

So, if I read you right, an '87-'93 Mustang 8.8 unit would be the correct width and bolt right in.  There are LOTs of those out there, so even better for me.

275's???  Nice....

Like I said, any Fox rear end will bolt in, but the Mustang track width is too narrow for these cars IMO, so that's why I went with the wider unit.

is the Mustang unit not as wide as these cars??  Basically, I'm trying to figure out which 8.8 is the same width as the existing one.

I've been trying to find info on the axle widths of the Fox chassis cars, from Mustang to T Bird and so forth.

Those Cobra wheels?  Nice.....

It's been covered here alot.

The Mustang unit should be the same as what's in there.  I don't think they had the wider 83-88 track.  Worst case is you get a Mustang 8.8 and swap your brakes/axles into it.

83-88 Tbird and 94-98 Mustang rear axle overall width is 1-1/2" (or 3/4" per side) wider than the Std Fox Mustang rear ends.

Okay, excellent information.  Need to dig out one of my Mustang books and see what width is going to work, but from your pictures, I do see what you mean about the stock rear not looking wide enough compared to the SVO unit.

Measure what you have in there now, overall width (to the face of the drums) and housing width (to the end of the axle tubes where the drum backing plates bolt to.
