how did it shift?

ok i have a question that has been bothering me and have asked people but have not goten a solid answer or put in the rite direction to find this out.

when i got my mustang i bought it knowing that the tranny was bad. (aod) and we drove it home shifted fine. drove it around for a weekend and then on sunday night it started slipping. ok fine here is the tranny problem they were talking about. stoped at a light and whent to go . no go. toast. fine i have an extra. get the car to the garage.

we pull the tranny get it upside down bc we were installing a shift kit in the tranny i had as an extra. but we needed the B servo. so while the VB is off we started poking around and looking and noticed that the 1-2 and 3-4 acumulators are not in this thing.  . so i want to know what the hell did someone do to this thing and make it work for that long without those verry important things. .

eather someone knows some trick stuff or someone got really really lucky. oh and the tranny had reverse that never stoped working.

so i wunder if i put these parts in from another tranny if this will make it work again and shift ??? any ideas or theories behind this wunder

I believe the valve bodies changed in '88, later units do not have those acumulmators. My 90 SC AOD doesn't, and has been doing fine for over 5 years.

oh see i didnt know that . see it's the small things that matter than.  thatnks TC. oh by the way i have a question for you.  you said your TC was an auto from the factory a while back. and you have the transgo kit did you use the stock shifter ? if so is it the same as a mustang 4 banger 1 2 d od ? if so does the kit allow you to do  1 2 3 od. if so then im going to get the 4 banger shifter .

In addition to the Trans Go kit, I have a early(before they got to be famous) Lentech mod to my valve body. It makes the shift pattern  P N R OD/3 2 1. Still has 6 positions, just no OD lockout. What it actually does is eliminate the shift to 3rd in the normal "D" position.

Forget the Mustang or the Turbo Coupe A4LD shifters, they have 7 positions. You can use the shifter from a '86-older TC/XR7 as they used the C3 with a P R N D 2 1 pattern. Easier to find is the '87-'88 Sport/XR7 unit, mine is from a '87 Sport.

oh well what i was trying to do for cheep was like the b&m  1 2 d od  and thought that the T-go kit alowed a person to do this or would that  not be the case without changing the Valve Body . oh well i'll get something together. time is all i seem to have .so im not rushing

thanks
