Map Sensor

Can I use a MAP Sensor from a Mass Air HO Engine for a Speed Density HO Conversion??? The MAP Sensor is off an HO Tbird with MASS air in a junkard.  Thanks

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

It is true you can use the map from a maf car for sd and vise versa but you may have a problem fitting a vac line on it.
Otherwise the part #s are the same if you look into the aftermarket like i did just to verify.
If the mass air car was a conversion or a stang grab all the mass air stuff(computer, maf and bracket, wiring connector and tubes from the TB) much more worth your time than the SD.

The cap on the vaccum port should just pull off, allowing the hose to fit.

Is there a problem with your original MAP?? Don't let anybody tell you they are different, cause they are all the same... BAP, MAP, HO, SO, 3.8, 4cyl... no difference.

Thanks guys, UPDATE: my HO conversion with ported upper an lower intake/TB is almost complete. Next to come are a set of E7TE heads ported/polished/decked/milled with 1.94/1.68 valves and a 3 angle valve job. THEN...the much needed paint job. I baught the car for 200.00 from my preacher. He left it in his backyard under a tree for 7years so it REALLY needs body work. I had to put a new tranny in it but it has been well worth 200 so far. Thanks Again!

OK Tom, if you make it into town for Cat Jam, I will absolutely prove you wrong on this. :)

I have a collection of about half a dozen MAP/BPS sensors and have tried them all out on 3 different cars (2 5.0's and one 3.8). The one I have on my '88 V8 Blue Max at this very moment raises the idle significantly over the rest of them. The others, they're all the same as far as idle quality. But this one is absolutely 100% different. You got me why....I have no clue, and normally I would agree with you. However, the proof is right under my hood.

Eric I believe you, but basiclly its defective..... Under no cirspoogestance should a MAP sensor effect idle speed. It probably has a internal vaccum leak. Sometime when you have nothing better to do, "T" in a vac gage at the sensor and check the readings with different MAPs. I'm betting that one will be less than the others.
