5 lug conversion problem!! February 25, 2007, 11:44:40 AM I just did the 5 lig conversion on the front of my 86 cougar. I have a problem now. I got new rotors for a 86 ranger. It seems like the diameter of the rotors are a little bigger than the stock ones. The seem to rub slightly againist the brake caliper mount and the underside of the caliper. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Quote Selected

5 lug conversion problem!! Reply #3 – March 07, 2007, 10:51:44 PM I saw your post on TF about the rear swap (which for the life of me I don't know why you didn't ask here). You're not going to be able to use the Ranger axle method in your 86 7.5 housing..... Quote Selected

It will weaken it, which can cause a catistraphic failure, which could result in killing you or somebody else that you hit. turn down the outer diameter of the rotor if you are going to use ranger discs. 5 lug conversion problem!! Reply #7 – March 09, 2007, 06:03:32 AM Do you work under your car while it is supported only by a jack to? I think as a responsible board member it is up to us to teach new people the PROPER ways of modifing these cars, not the ricer ways. By that I mean grinding and hacking there car and making it generally unsafe for the road. If you want to risk your own life by weakening your brake calipers, thats up to you, but why would you advise a newbie to do it? Quote Selected
