where to install aftermarket water temperature sending unit January 14, 2005, 05:39:09 PM I have a 1988 XR-7 with a 302 and will be installing an Autometer electrical water temperature guage. I am wanting to keep the stock temperature guage along with the aftermarket one. I am trying to figure out where to put the sending unit for the second guage. I thought about the rear port on the drivers side of the intake that has the square headed plug in it. Would this work?I also have a Ford Motorsport chrome thermostat housing that has a screw plug on the top behind the hose outlet. Would this be a good place to put it?Where does everyone hook theirs up to when using two guages?ThanksTim Quote Selected

Re: where to install aftermarket water temperature sending unit Reply #2 – January 14, 2005, 06:27:15 PM Yes, that spot will work. I was working on a 5.0 in a Towncar, and that is where one of the heater hose outlets were. The fox 5.0 must have a plug there. Quote Selected
Re: where to install aftermarket water temperature sending unit Reply #3 – January 14, 2005, 06:58:52 PM The thermostat housing is a bad place - it'll only show you the temp once the thermostat opens, and of course if the t-stat fails it won't show you anything at all. That port is good only for a thermal switch for an electric fan, which is probably what it was put there for. Quote Selected
