Subtle taillight treatment, whatcha think?

Just recently did this on my taillights...I bought some of that niteshades stuff but after practicing with it, wasn't confident enough to actually put it on my taillights (plus it's not warm enough yet). So I pulled those reflective strips off the bottom and put a couple coats on them, along with the bird emblem (I blacked out my front bird emblem too).

Anyway I like how the lights look now, the reflectors blend into the lights a lot better. Little hard to see in the pics though.

Truthfully, I don't see anything different. I'm actually trying to see what you did (is the reflector slightly darker?). Like you said, the camera isn't showing the change. Perhaps a before/after pic?

Yeah the reflector is darker...it's really hard to show it in pics because it's like it's either too hard to see or the flash lights up the reflector. The light is kinda py in our garage here.

I did take the lights apart and clean out the inside really well. :dunno:

I can see how the reflector on the bottom is daker and the bird it black. If I remember right the lower reflector should be alot more bright red. So I can see a difference in my eye. But I would coat the lens with the Nite shades. I would do light even coats. until you get the look you want. Also paint or cover the inside reflector part of the lights chorme or sticky metal chome tape so when they do light up they are bright as possible. I know back in the day we used to coat the tail lights with back spray paint. We just misted them with over spray. Same effect but took my time to get the right look with going overboard. I havn't used the nite shades yet but I have a can to coat the jeeps tail lights with. Just need the temp to come up enough to get out there and take it apart to do it.

I did that almost 10 years ago to my 87 tail lights. I did 3 coats of that stuff. looked cool at nite and durring the day you could actually see the tail lghts better.

I actually realized that I shoulda sprayed the nite shades on the inside part (that actually has the red lenses in it) WHILE I had the taillights apart...woulda looked better and been a lot easier to do, but oh well. I'm still not completely sure if i wanna spray the nite-shades on the lenses or not, on bigger clear surfaces it always goes on splotchy and doesn't look very good.
