this is a sweet phone.... January 09, 2007, 07:01:50 PM http://www.apple.com/iphone/Normally I could give a rats about a new cell phone but this one is sweet!Favorite part, adjusts for portrait or landscape by simply rotating the phone. My phone runs on windows. :( Quote Selected
this is a sweet phone.... Reply #1 – January 09, 2007, 08:03:30 PM It is pretty cool...and considering that my current carrier is Cingular, it's really tempting for me to upgrade in a few months. But the only thing that's holding me back is the size... 4.5" x 2.4" x 3/4". It's not huge but not as small as my current phone either. Not exactly "pocket friendly", in other words. I'll wait until the FCC approves it and I can see it in person before I make a decision. But the technology is amazing. Apple has over 200 patents in that thing, and it took over 2 1/2 years to produce. Still would like to see more than 8GB in it though... Quote Selected

Remember how expensive the Razr was (and how many fraudulent eBay auctions resulted)? Quote Selected

Remember how expensive the Razr was (and how many fraudulent eBay auctions resulted)?Me too. :DFrom what I hear, Apple does not want to discount their phones (like the Razr). They are basically saying, if you want this phone your are going to have to pay. Which is fine with me. I bought my first cell phone a little over a year ago via discount and it was of very poor quality. It creaked and cracked when I used it and it would randomly restart itself. And after several replacements and an "upgrade" which faired no better than my previous model, so I bit the bullet and bought used but nearly new smartphone from eBay. Which I am very happy with to this day... minus some Windows related annoyances. I have only had to make one trip to Verizon and that was to activate the phone. My problems are, I won't be switching to Cingular anytime soon as everybody I talk to frequently is on Verizon. And I'm not too kosher about not having a physical keyboard. My touchscreen is not always that great so dialing numbers sometimes can be a c. I always use slide-out keyboard for emails and text messaging as I like the feedback of pressing the buttons. But we shall see. :) Quote Selected
this is a sweet phone.... Reply #7 – January 10, 2007, 07:43:17 AM I have Cingular and am satified with the service. If this "phone" does as well as Apple hopes it might give Cingular a boost as well. Quote Selected

They are basically saying, if you want this phone your are going to have to pay.LOL Trust me, it's not just phones they do that with. I've been using Apple products for almost two decades now. They don't do discounts, unless you are a student or in the education field, or are an employee. Even employee discounts aren't that much (25% off new, 10% off refurbished and everything else). Apple assumes that people want their products and therefore must pay the same price to get those products. Apple also dictates to its authorized resellers how much money they must charge, AND how much they are allowed to make on each sale. It is arrogant totalitarianism bordering on delusional. And I'm a fan! LOL But the company is extremely healthy, right now being the only PC manufacturer consistently turning a profit, and their R&D is miles beyond the competition with far fewer people to boot. So...their product model seems to be working. Lord knows I've given them enough money over the past few years (great tax writeoffs, eh). That being said...the iPhone should sell well as demand may actually exceed the hype. Also, there is a full touch keyboard for text messaging...I don't know if you saw that or not. I'm really interested to see how "smart" the touch-sensitive screen is, and how accurate things are via the touchpad. If indeed things are as shown, this could revolutionize screens everywhere, not just on phones. I think that's probably one of Apple's goals with this project...I mean, 200+ patents in there, you know they're going to license out some of that technology eventually.I'm with you though...the decision can't be made until we can physically try one out. this is a sweet phone.... Reply #9 – January 10, 2007, 06:24:42 PM Oh I see their prices! I have been staring at that iMac for some time now. Eventually I will take the plunge but I got lotsa car parts to buy first. I bought my fiance an iPod Nano for Xmas and I was very pleased with the fit and finish all the way down to the packaging. I don't mind paying a little extra for a company that takes pride in their work. They kinda remind me of Maximum Motorsports in a way. Especially in pricing. MM restricts their dealers as well. this is a sweet phone.... Reply #10 – January 10, 2007, 07:39:48 PM I'm not catching on to this multiple use phone . Just give me a basic phone that's it. I have Verizon and upgraded my phone and hate it. Nearly every 'short cut key', which is nearly every key on the phone, dials me into their network for the 'get it now' music/pictures/internet etc. $$$$$ no thank you.I don't even have an ipod. My old am/fm pocket transmitter works just fine.I guess times be changin' though. Even my 6-year old cousin can't survive a 20 minute car trip without watching a DVD. Quote Selected
