December 16, 2006, 09:33:11 PM Stupid things arrived to Me a few minits ago, check this...I started to drink and drunk 24 hours ago, and I like to hear music when I'm in this state, but to not annoying My ole Mother living winh Me, I decided to hear music in My 88 tbird (this bird not runned since 3 years and on one or two flats tires), but it have a great Sound system in it (cd/amplifier/ect...)..I was in a drivers side and the music was very loud, the seat was declined, and whatever...I hear a TOC! but I say in My mind it's a speaker issue, but a TOC TOC!, I opened My eyes and see a Man with a flashlight, I guessed what happened...Down My window and the policeman say to Me what happens?, I say what?, the policeman say to Me Out of the vehicle please, What happens I say again!!! and I shut on My back on the ice just over the bird...The PM say are You take a beer?, yes a TON I say, come in My vehicle please he say, OK!!!...He starting to g me off with an article 253a and b, I know these articles I was unless licence for drunk and drive for 9years between 88 and 97...WHY! I saw?, You have ina a possesion of vehicle in a drunk state!, I pulled out My eyeglasses and say, ARE YOU SEE CORRECTLY THIS CAR!, THE ONLY THING WORK ON THAT IS THE RADIO!!!!!!!...Ask for the title, BUT don't have, see on his computer for the s/n, and ask to Me "where are u purchased", I named the person and say is a farmer ans possibly sleeped!!!...Called Mr "R" to ask what I say is right and say okay, go out and shut off Your music and go to sleep!!!! (in My mind go to hell at 41 I sleep at the hour I want ehheheh)...That's enough, I understand the Police officer having a call for a loud music, but starting to screw Me with a drinking and driving on a non working vehicle, it's a bit loud too...That's what happened...the bird don't run anyway, it's a pic of...What a crazy history here eheheh!:grinno: Quote Selected

I would get so drunk that I knew I had to sleep (pass out), but the party would still be cookin'. I would just go out to the car, crank some music, then pass out with the seat reclined.The thing is, I could have technically been arrested for doing that; especially if I had the engine running to keep the battery charged. You can get a DUI even if you aren't in motion.I'm not sure if the laws are similar up where you are.That's kind of a funny story, though. :D Quote Selected

Reply #3 – December 16, 2006, 11:56:28 PM If you're in the car drunk with the keys in your possession you can be nailed for DUI even if it doesn't have an engine in it. Ask my father how I know this (it was him, not me - I don't drink). They can even get you on a bicycle, lawn tractor, and even a wheelchair. I personally think it's stupid - if, such as in the case of CougarCragar, you decide you're too drunk to drive so you "sleep it off" you should be encouraged to do so. Instead the laws seem to say "May as well drive home, cuz you're gonna get nailed anyway". I realize they have this law to prevent people from pulling over and jumping into the back seat when pulled over by the police (or similar defences), but the police officers themselves should know better than to arrest somebody for doing the right thing and staying put. He got busted! Lost his drivers licence, boat registration for two years and tons of fines and costs. Sometimes the police are not your friend, They are not all bad though. Quote Selected

Used to be common sense to "whether I give you a ticket, or I drive you home, and come and get your car in the morning." But alas, no more. Keys out of the ignition and stuffed behind the gas filler flap, lock the doors, and sleep in the back seat. Next morn might take awhile to remember where the keys are, but it's safe. As for tunes, the cost of an ipod, extra car battery, and/or any other means still costs less than a DWI. Quote Selected

He got stuck in a mud hole, so he shifted into 4WD and tried to get out. The truck wouldn't move, but it didn't seem like the tires were spinning, so he got out and put a pebble on a wheel, got back in and tried again, then looked and the pebble was still there. The clutch went away just as quick as that. It was pitch dark out by then, so walking the several miles back to the camp wasn't an option.No problem, he thought - he had a quart of Captain Morgan, a carton if cigarettes, and a full tank of gas for warmth. He promptly drank the quart and got really, really drunk, then started the engine for heat (it was December) and he crawled into the back seat and went to sleep. At some point through the night he was awakened by a tapping on the window - a cop, who was travelling with conservation officers (conservation officers were not allowed to carry guns back then, so they always travelled with a mountie riding shotgun), wanted to talk to him. He stumbled out, the mountie stuck an ALERT tester into his mouth, he failed, and was arrested even though he demonstrated to the officers that the truck was immobilized. The cop said "Doesn't matter if it works or not, it doesn't even need an engine, if you're in it with the keys and drunk you're drunk driving". The conservation officers even tried to convince the cop to let dad go, but he'd hear none of it. The conservation officers even testified on my father's behalf at the trial, and the judge even tore a strip off the mountie for even bringing my father before him under such cirspoogestances, but his hands were tied, the law was the law. He gave my father the minimum sentence and even told him how to get an absolute discharge after the sentence was satisfied, which my father did.Now, in order to appreciate just how much of a prick this cop was: This took place on an old woods road, about 20 miles from the nearest travelled road, and about 30 miles from a house. One was pulled off on the side of the road...which is understandable because he had to drive it the side of the road he was on. The other cousin was passed out in the school parking lot after a party and he got nailed. Both of them lost their license for a year. Quote Selected
