Mustang question

My friend has a 88 GT convertible.  as soon as it freezes his door handles freeze up and wont let loose until soaked in hot water.  He has even broken two of the handles just trying to get work in the morning.  Does any body know how to solve this problem.

Thanks
Andy

Let the lock solenoid dry out and then spray it with silicone spray. It probably has moister in it. My 92 lincoln Mark VII did that.

The locks work just fine, but he cant get the door handles up to open the doors.

Everything needs lubed...inside the locks, the hinges for the handles, the latch mechanism, etc. Also, your friend may want to consider upgrading to metal handles. All 1987-93 Mustangs had flimsy plastic handles that break. He can use 1979-86 Mustang (or, for that matter, our 1983-88) metal door handles and they swap in effortlessly. To change handles he'd have to drill out the two factory pop rivets per side. Upon reassembly you can use 1" carriage bolts (rounded head with no slots) and thread locker on the backside....works like a charm.
